LAst Night's Action: Angels Fly High

Random factoid: When the Angels won their first World Series in 2003, they did it with un-AL-like small-ball. But homers are nice, too.Angels 7, Twins 2 - After 134 innings without going yard, an Angel finally sent a ball into the heavens. Garret Anderson hit an upper-deck blast to snap the streak. Every Halo run was scored by a different player, each in a different inning. They also spread around the hits, as every starter connected during the game. On the mound, Joe Saunders pitched seven strong innings to earn his third win of the year.

Mets 5, Dodgers 4, 10 - It was a tough series for the Dodgers, who dropped three of four games to New York. On Sunday, the Met's Chip Ambres drove in the winning run with his first hit since October 2, 2005. DJ Houlton surrendered the hit, and was the third straight pitcher to allow a run. The Blue Crew leaned on their bullpen, using five relievers in the game. Maybe they should have relied more on Eric Stults, who K'd five batters with no walks in just over five innings.

Elsewhere - OJ Simpson slashes through the defense in a new video game just released. Bad taste? What do you think? ... Unranked Czech Radek Stepanek beat #2 James Blake to take home the top prize at the 81st Countrywide Classic played at UCLA ... Despite playing just 12 minutes in a loss, Becks got one heck of a party compared to the reception some other soccer figures get. Maybe he should have played with the passion of a U-20.

Tonight's Action - The Dodgers are headed to Houston (5:00pm) while the Angels return home to welcome Oakland (7:00pm).
