As Guest Day Editor, Siel, a.k.a Green LA Girl, will be joining LAist with a few posts throughout today. Read her interview here and check out her site.
If you feel like a lonely environmentalist floundering in a sea of SUV-drivers, get to Green Drinks for some eco-commiseration over organic vodka cocktails.
Green Drinks is basically like a recurring cocktail party for environmentalists. Any and all with a green interest are invited -- There's no bouncer demanding you show green creds, and there's no cover, though you'll need to pay for your own drinks.
There's no agenda either -- People just drink and talk. Just like most evenings at a bar, you’ll prolly mingle and meet some people — green people. Some business types might immediately press a recycled business card into your hand, but most'll simply be friendly and relaxed, drink in hand.
Green Drinks has gotten popular enough that it now has 4 different location -- Culver City, Hermosa Beach, Silver Lake, and Studio City -- 1 for each week of the month. Theoretically, you could hit a Green Drinks every Thursday, though that might mean a lot of un-eco driving.... I go to the Culver City one at the Culver Hotel -- which BTW offers organic Square One Vodka.
The next Green Drinks happens at The Sapphire in Studio City this Thursday; your own LAist co-editor Zach Behrens helped get this Green Drinks location started. If you need to be reminded to drink on Thursdays, sign up for the mailing list.
And if 4 nights of green drinking a month isn't enough, you can also stop by Green Business Networking -- happening on the second Tues. of every month at The Ambrose Hotel in Santa Monica (email greenbusinessnetworking@gmail.com for more info) -- and Sustainable Business Council's occasional wine-infused events --
