Thanks for the post. You can also sign do not mail petition ( like Do Not Call National Petition) I did some search online and this is the best resource so far available online ( correct me if I am wrong). I have done this 5 months ago and my mailbox is literally empty ( I have paperless billing and also opted out from various mail lists) I check my mail twice a month now. It is beautiful. ( What a freedom). I even took the letter from samples provided and wrote it to a local Chinese restaurant that keeps putting fliers in my door. They stopped too in the whole subdivision. In regards to guest [7]: Many NGOs sell your name to other NGOs, thus generating more junk mail. With GreenDimes, when that happens, I just e-mail them the information on the address stamp and they get rid of it pretty fast. The only junkmail I get now is The Pennysaver. They refuse to take us off. Boo!

Great info, but I must correct you- getting off the DMA list costs you a buck whether you do it online OR mail it in, according to the website.

This has been a major struggle for me. I would add one piece of advice: Whenever you give out your information over the phone (like place an order or make a charitable donation), tell the person on the phone two things: 1) Don't put your name on their mailing list. 2) Don't distribute your contact information to any third parties (especially for nonprofit organizations). Many NGOs sell your name to other NGOs, thus generating more junk mail.
