Madame in the court! Could Phil Spector testify?

In the middle of detailed testimony from yet another well-credentialed forensic scientist, a sandy haired attorney entered the back of the Phil Spector courtroom with his Nancy Sinatra-esque client this morning. He was here yesterday, and their appearance could only mean one thing: former madame Jody "Babydol" Gibson was present to petition the court. Judge Fidler quickly sent the jury out of the room.

On Tuesday, the judge said that the self-proclaimed "supermadam" wouldn't testify, at least not now and could speak to no media, no how. Turns out Miss Gibson wants to promote her books – this is, her attorney said without irony, how she makes her living. Why keep her away from the media? Well, she still might be a witness. And the news today is that this’ll happen only if Phil Spector takes the stand.

No one expects Spector to testify, but the longer the defense postpones releasing the former Lady of the Evening from their witness list, the more hope we have that he might.

The judge decided that it wouldn’t be fair to impede Miss Gibson from making a living selling her books (Although she does have something to fall back on….) He told her, in rough transcription:

If you mention Lana Clarkson in any way, shape, fashion or form while this case is ongoing, it is inappropriate. You are potential witness in this case…It would be nothing but an attempt, in my view, to influence the jury. … You may not in any way, shape or form touch upon, come close to, or talk about anything having to do with Lana Clarkson or Mr Spector.

Judge Fidler went on to say that she could not respond to questions about a page in an appointment book from her callgirl business, nor could she allow that book to fall open to that page, without being in violation of the court. She’s only allowed to say that she can’t discuss it while the trial is in progress.

But we saw one reporter, notebook in hand, talking to the microminiskirted madame immediately after she exited the courtroom. After the judge's strict orders, what on earth could she have said, other than “No comment”?

If she doesn’t want to piss off the court, here’s a suggestion: these boots are made for walking.

OMG. For a second, the stupid in me took over and I thought that your title was inferring that Madame from "Wayland & Madame" was going to make an appearance in court.

Well... maybe that's still possible. I wonder what she's been up to for the past 19 years?
