Takin' Over the Streets

Big Shug

If the name Big Shug rings a bell, there’s no surprise here. He became known all around the globe for hooking up with Gang Starr and becoming part of the pulse of the Gang Starr Foundation, and currently for his gig co-hosting a show with DJ Premier on Sirius Satellite Radio. But Big Shug is back on the music side of things, following his well received 2005 solo debut, Who’s Hard, with Streetchamp, which drops today on Babygrand Records.

Claiming the title of Streetchamp, Big Shug teams up with the legendary DJ Premier and MoSS (known for producing tracks with the likes of Ghostface Killah and Joell Ortiz) to showcase his evolution that has sprouted from his Gang Starr roots. The album shows his lyrical expansion with tracks like “It Just Don’t Stop,” a favorite amongst the masses, and teams up for appearances by Sean Price and Big Twins from Infamous Mobb, among others.

Check out his myspace page to cop the album.
