Make A Difference - Throw A Shoe Party

Throw A Shoe Party

Here on LAist, we've written before about how to make your party socially conscious and in particular how to throw a shoe party. It is in that same vein that Tom's Shoes is planning a night of shoe parties across the country. The date is set for Saturday, July 28th, 2007 and here's the deal.

Throw a good ole summer party to get friends together. Sign up to be a host. Invite a bunch of friends and then either tell them to order shoes or order a bunch for the party in white. Everyone shows up, drinks, laughs, has fun and decorates the shoes. Take lots of pictures, send them into Tom's. Be a part of history. And sleep a little easier knowing that for every pair of shoes you buy, a pair is matched to a child in Argentina.

Check out founder Blake Mycoskie's vision for the night.

LAist owns multiple pairs of shoes, ourselves, but we also buy them throughout the year for gifts. Our most recent purchase was to decorate a pair for a friend's bachelorette saying "Run while you still can." Paint skulls or butterflies, or both. Just jump on the train already, what are you waiting for?
