Also - Le Cupcake on the 3rd Street Promenade is newish and makes extraordinary cupcakes. I'm checking them out for my wedding as we just had them for someone's birthday and they were excellent.

I know it's overhyped a la Pinkberry - but I *seriously* miss the Magnolia Bakery in Greenwich Village. I will go to this bakery, and hope that their cupcakes can fill the hole in my heart that Magnolia left when I moved out of NYC.

I live in West LA, but have never been a geography snob. There are definitely cupcakes on the East Side, but have these places opened recently? I think Auntie Em's at least has been around awhile.

What about Pasadena? Technically its not LA but I can think of half a dozen places within 10 minutes of old town: Violets, Dots, Auntie Em's, Mrs. Beasley's, etc.
