LOGO, the nation's first (and only) openly gay television network, is set to host the next Democratic presidential debate in Los Angeles on August 9. The moderators will include Joe Solmonese, the president of Human Rights Campaign, and Melissa Etheridge, the Academy Award (for her rendition of An Inconvenient Truth's "I Need to Wake Up") and two-time Grammy Award-winning rock musician and prominent gay rights activist.

So what specific topics will be on the table for this debate? According to the website 365Gay.com, "The panelists in a statement said they plan to cover a range of issues including relationship recognition, marriage equality, workplace fairness, the military, hate crimes, HIV/AIDS and other important issues."

Now you might wonder: why did LOGO pick Los Angeles and, say, not famously open San Francisco (see sister site SFist's "Gay Stuff Archives" for an idea)? Well, to be honest, we're not too sure ourselves. All we know is that a Californian city was picked "because of the state's early primary election, on February 5th, 2008."

The downside of all this, of course, is clear: God will smite us for being the immoral, gay-friendly liberals that we are. Thanks Pat.
