The Venice Neighborhood Council is announcing an interesting way to read and/or listen to a classic American tale.

Read the complete Moby Dick on the Beach with The Venice Oceanarium. Come to the breakwater rocks at the end of Windward.

9 a.m - 9 p.m on Saturday 7/14 & Sunday 7/15.

And since there's a week before the big reading, can someone build the Oceanarium a web site? ktnhx.

I'm halfway through reading Moby Dick right now. I don't know if I've ever read (by choice) a more difficult book. That said, it's been totally worth it. But for the uninitiated, I'd recommend Melville's Billy Budd as an introduction to the writing style.
