Foodie Round-Up: Baked Beans and Baron Herzog

Eat at Langer's

- Jonathan Gold pays tribute to the late, great Al Langer in this week's LA Weekly.
- Losanjealous interviews Palms Thai's Thai Elvis: um, does he put fish sauce on his peanut-butter and banana sandwiches?
-EaterLA is totally representing our Tom Colicchio obsession; here they're peepin' on the continued progress of Craft over in Century City.
- Go see Rescue Dawn: and sneak in a bottle of Baron Herzog wine in honor of the great German director (no relation). It's locally produced in Oxnard, inexpensive, and easy to find at your local TJ's.
- Food blog you should be reading: 101 Cookbooks. Heidi Swanson is a phenomenal photographer and an even better cook; her hearty and original vegetarian recipes are yummy enough to make even the most die-hard carnivores salivate.
- July is National Baked Bean Month, according to Slashfood: you can pop open a can of the grocery store variety, but why not whip up your own batch of Vegan Baked Beans?
- Are we over the whole Pinkberry madness yet? Because the LA Times lets us in on their little ice cream secret this week: Philly-style soft-serve at Joe's in Gardena.
