Sonic Youth to play Urban Outfitters on July 21

Sonic Youth continue to push the envelope. Two weeks ago they let it out that they're going to be working with Starbucks on a cd that will only be sold there, and today we learn that they are going to play a free gig at the Urban Outfitters on the Third Street Promenade.

Is that where the Teenage Riots happen these days?

Anyways, they're Sonic Youth and because their music has stayed pure throughout the years, if they have to be in bed with two corporate chains (and automaker Toyota) so that they can continue to bust with sweet ass records that define creativity and experimental independence, then fine. We can live with it.

According to the press release we got, to get into the show, a benefit for KXLU, you have to rsvp here. But as of 5pm the link isn't working. So maybe it's already sold out, maybe the site is down, maybe you should try it later if you're a big a fan as we are. Update, we're being told its a technical glitch, so keep trying that link.

Either way we love Sonic Youth and we would watch them play in the Uggs section of the Gap at Universal CityWalk if we had to. Fortunately we don't have to, and fortunately we have tickets to see them play at the Greek next month as they perform Daydream Nation in its entirety.
