It's One of the Best Parking Tips Ever

Yellow Loading Zone Sign in Los Angeles

Maybe we shouldn't be emphasizing this tip so we can keep our parking spots open in busy areas of the city. But we're feeling generous to those who read LAist on Sundays and we still seem to shock a new person everyday with this parking tip that the LACityNerd taught us so long ago.

Yellow Loading Zones are only in effect from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday. So take advantage all day Sunday and after 6 p.m. in the evenings. The same applies to Green Zones except you get an extra hour in the morning since it takes effect starting at 8 a.m.

Some things to remember are that White Loading Zone signs are enforced 24/7 unless otherwise noted and this tip is for within the City of Los Angeles. We do not know if this goes for Santa Monica, West Hollywood, Culver City etc. Also, additional signs giving restrictions can override the Yellow Loading Zone rules. So you need to check and read all the signs carefully. We often get excited near Hollywood and Highland when we find our favorite yellow sign only to pull up and see a tiny sign with some further restrictions. Grrrrrr...

maybe this will stop random jackasses from going "uh, you can't park there" and me having to explain "you're a jackass."

yeah, shhhhh! it was magic this morning at the Hollywood Farmer's Market to have the closest spot to the market an hour before the protest.

then why did i get a ticket last night, well after 6pm in Hollywood?

What was the violation on the ticket written for?

Yellow Loading Zone or some other restriction?

(Like Oliver said) GAH!! Shhh...

Received a $45 ticket last week when I parked legally at a loading zone. Went in to buy dog food and have used this spot before so the salesperson can load the 40 lb. bag into my car.
Ticket comments: SP CV loading only 5min Limit Veh OBSD @1305 NA UA 1 pic. It took about 10 minutes total to buy and come out. The sign does not say there is a 5 minute limit. This loading zone was for the previous tenant which was a furniture store. No one can load furniture in 5 minutes.

So does anyone have any info on this 5 minute scam?
