What's in the holy hell is going on at The Red Lion!? There is a black on white sign hanging on the door that reads "Closed Until Further Notice."
The atrocity was discovered last night around 9pm by intrepid man-on-the-street and resident Silverlakian, "J," who prefers to remain anonymous during this trying time.
Here's what we know: The lights are off. The gates are closed. The phone just rings and rings. And "J's" intern did not show up to work today. (This may not be related).
If you have any information regarding the whereabouts of the beer garden PLEASE LEAVE A COMMENT!! Time is running out... It's almost sundown.
Update: I just spoke to a rep who said they were doing some "upgrades and renovations" to get the joint code-friendly -- stair repair, new taps, that sort of thing. He assured me that they would be open tomorrow at 5pm.

Maybe... they are remodeling. Maybe hell froze over and they had to go buy all brand new kegs. Maybe the beer garden is now on my balcony and I'm enjoying it while I type this...
But... But I love that bar! I love their half-and-halves! What is going on?!
Lived in Silver Lake for years and love the Red Lion but honestly ... it kinda closes all the time. Not good for repeat customers. There's lots of other places in SL though. Big Foot Lodge, Tiki Ti, El Cid, Cabana Club, Good Luck Bar, Drawing Room, Cha Cha Lounge and the list goes on. If you want to check them all out in one day, I suggest a cab.

i'm glad to hear that it will reopen soon. i went last night around 11ish and and saw the same sign! so i walked across the street to cha cha and drank away my sorrows...
It was closed for Vermin infestation, not "upgrades". I went on Friday and it was closed by the health dept. A sign is on the door.
I'm currently in China. Vermin, schmermin. I'll stop by for some of those filthy $2.00 fries and a cold tall beer immediately upon returning. Eating in China for 4 months has kind of makes the ABC system in LA a little silly to me.
