"I'm Not A Plastic Bag"

One had never seen so much commotion on Robertson Boulevard, even on a day when Paris or Lindsey are nowhere in sight. Yesterday British designer Anya Hindmarch's limited edition, ecologically-friendly bag took center stage. All this for $15!!
I had heard of the first edition of these bags long after they had sold out. I checked out the website to see what all the fuss was about. There one could register for the waiting list for the new American Edition of the bag set to storm the states in June. A few days ago the reminder e-mail arrived. This was the week. Okay I thought, we'll see what happens. Yesterday I got a call from a friend who was waiting in the Fred Segal parking lot for the store to open. She wanted to know if I could head over to the Robertson store to see if there was a long line. Each customer was allowed to buy only two bags. Wouldn't they make fun gifts? Now before you get all cynical on me and yell, 'Hey Julie- get a life and go buy an f'ing canvas bag at Trader Joe's!' hear me out: this was getting interesting. The day was turning into a funny fashionista treasure hunt; plus, the last bags fetched big bucks on eBay.
I had plans to help a friend in Westwood with a project and wasn't about to tell her that I had to cancel on her to stand in line to buy a purse. So after finishing with all of my morning commitments, I drove to Robertson Boulevard. As I approached the store, I spied a very long line. A man was standing at the door of the boutique monitoring how many customers could go inside. A sales woman came out to assure an anxious woman that there are about a thousand bags for sale. One man informed me that he had waited for two hours.
As I walked south on Robertson, there are at least a few hundred people in line and many onlookers wondering what famous person we were all waiting to see. Amazingly one designer's canvas bag created this frenzy, as well as inspired many people to think green and save the environment from wasteful plastic bags.
Meanwhile back at Fred Segal, my friend had bought two bags and were out of there by 10:15am. So as I write this story, my environmentally friendly and very chic shopping bag is safely hanging from the back of my chair. Any bids?
