Deep in the Heart of Texas…is a murderous mob. Don’t mess with Texas…because if you do, you will be beat to death with Texan fists. That’s right folks. That is exactly what can happen.
According to the Associated Press, two men Victor (last name currently unknown) and David Morales, were driving in a crowded parking lot on June 19th on their way home from work when they accidentally hit a toddler with their car. Victor, the driver, immediately jumped out of the car to check on the child, who has not been seriously injured.
While Victor was checking on the toddler, a group of people came over to see what had happened and there was a violent confrontation. David Morales, the passenger, got out of the car to try to help Victor. When he did, five men in the crowd started to beat him too. The five men, using their arms and legs, beat and kicked Morales to death. Victor managed to get away.
The murder occurred in the parking lot of the apartment complex where Morales lived. Nearby, a Juneteenth festival commemorating the 1865 emancipation of those enslaved in Texas was taking place. There are a few witnesses that have said that there was a crowd of hundreds who saw the incident. But thus far, very few who saw the beating have come forward. One of the witnesses did call 9-1-1. Police arrived quickly, but Morales was already in critical condition and the five men who beat him had already fled.
David’s sister Margaret Morales (pictured above) said that a little boy from the neighborhood came to her front door to tell her that her that David had been hurt in the parking lot. She rushed out to find police already there, but it took a while for emergency medical professionals to arrive. David Morales was delivered to a hospital emergency room 35 minutes after the police arrived. Morales was pronounced dead on arrival.
The AP does not explain why these five men decided to beat on two people who did the ethical thing by checking on the toddler. David Morales and Victor did not hit-and-run. Nor does AP explain why the crowd decided to beat David Morales to death. As the car’s passenger, he was not operating the vehicle at the time. He was totally unresponsible for hitting the toddler. Nor does the AP explain why a toddler was running around a parking lot to begin with. They do not mention the irony of an innocent man being murdered without state authority via mob-beating, which is technically called a lynching, following the commemoration of the abolishment of enslavement in Texas.
Quite frankly, I don’t know how something this atrocious and brutal can be explained. Excuse me now as I must run to the toilet to vomit. Just the thought of the murder of an innocent person by five cavalier assholes makes me feel sick.

this was not Emancipation Proclamation - get ur facts straight hombre - just like kwanza they have another day to celebreate. Juneteenth "celebrates" the announcement of the abolition of slavery in Texas.
I put celebrates in paranthesis as to a certain group of people - and we have many here - that means riot, death and destruction of publice/private property.
And why do we ethnic profile again?

Why this post exemplifies weak blogging:
1. Posts on a national scale incident involving two of contemporary America’s most politicized and emotionally charged issues – racial violence and rioting by disenfranchised minorities.
2. Too pc-pussy to take a serious look at the complexity of issues at play. Only addresses race in a roundabout way via a blurb at the end about a paradoxical lynching occurring during a celebration of the emancipation proclamation.
3. Fails to connect the incidents to others that occurred at similar celebrations around the country.
4. Takes an easy way out by taking the PC-friendly, talk shit about Texas line which does zero analytical work.

Don't expect any witnesses to come forward -- "no snitchin' allowed", as they say.
It took parademics over 30 minutes after the belated 911 call to get Morales into the ER. Po-pos had to "clear the scene" first, according to reports.
I'm going out on the limb here, but methinks none of the heinous murderers were women. Nor sober.

- its on LAist because its a tragic story that lots of people in LA are talking about which is also why it was/is a top story on the LA Times and all the local tv and radio stations.
- the title is far from being "anti-Texas". in the center of Texas a mob murdered someone. if you cant handle that fact dont blame the messenger.
- people are allowed to post anonymously because this is still America and if you want to cowardly talk out of your ass you still can in the USA, therefore you still can in LAist, but it doesnt mean that you wont be taken less seriously or even dissed for not putting your name next to it.

People need to realize CNN and even the Austin police made it seem far crazier than it was.
A crowd of 20 is more accurate.

The child was black. David Morales was unjustly killed by a mob of blacks. Chill with the racist nonsense Mr Vagrunt? If you can not connect the dots then you are simply an apologetic idiot. If Morales had been black and the mob hispanic there would have been riots in every ghetto of America. If the mob would have been white, then just fucking forget about statements like “It’s not a hate crime, It’s not racially motivated in any way. The assault has nothing to do with the Juneteenth celebration" being uttered by the authorities. What happened when a black man was simply beaten by a group of white cops? Riots. What happens when a mob of 40+ blacks kills a hispanic man who did the moral thing by trying to help his friend who himself did the moral thing of stopping and checking up on a child he had hit with his vehicle? Nothing. No justice will be served and the media will simply move along and report the next Paris Hilton update.

Personally, if I saw someone hit my kid with their car, I would have drug out the driver and beat him/her to death with my own hands regardless of age, gender, or age. I also do not let my kid run around in the street or parking lot alone. No one really knows the facts of the case, maybe people were yelling at the driver to slow down, maybe the driver knew the parents of the kid and wanted to show some pain to its parents for a bad drug deal. No of us know at this point. But I do know as a parent and a neighbor, if someone hit my kid in my street, they'd have 5 people beating the shit out of the driver regardless of ethnicity. However, this is a sad case, because the child wasn't badly harmed, they should have stopped beating the driver when they found out the kid was okay, at least I would have.
