Rosie O'Donnell, Come On Down!

Price%20is%20Right.jpg

The Associated Press wrote today that Rosie O'Donnell is meeting with CBS to discuss potentially becoming the next host of the Price is Right. All she has to do is beat out the likes of cable entertainment news show hosts Todd Newton and Mark Steines.

I don't know about you, but just the thought of Rosie O’Donnell moving to Los Angeles and taking over this iconically glittery game show makes me giddy. Even Bob Barker himself thinks that she is the best candidate to further his legacy. Not only does O'Donnell's resume include prior experience with daytime television, but also a few stints on Broadway and a childhood in Bayside Queens. Broadway is often synonymous with camp, so she's got that aspect of the Price is Right covered, and growing up in Bayside, Queens, means that she probably knows how all of the various Price is Right guessing games work. CBS wouldn't even have to provide her with job-training. As a New York expatriate, I am confident in these assumptions.

Most importantly, it's about time that the producers of the Price is Right let us all know that they think that women are not only good at putting on evening gowns during the day and fondling potential prizes, but that women make damn fine game show hosts too.

Verrrrrry Interesting. Now that you mention it, I can see this application of the talent at hand. The Bob, penultimate of penultimates granting legacy to The Rosie. Cool!

Awful... awful choice...

There is only one man who could possibly fill his shoes and he's busy over on NBC with his own gameshow.

That man, is Bob Saget.

On the plus side, Rosie would probably enjoy looking at the various evening gown clad models who show off the prizes, so she would most likely keep those ladies on the show.

I think they should offer the show to Betty White for a year.

Tom Greene NEEDS to host this show. That would make it 100% watchable!

Well, actually, they always have totally hysterical contestants. Rosie is bulky enough to handle their terrier-like springing much better than Bob Barker, who was always on the verge of getting knocked down. When they start screaming, Bob would always chuckle helplessly, but Rosie could probably shut them up and keep them in line. Man, if they gave her a riding crop, that would be the show to watch.
