I reviewed Bebel Gilberto's new CD, Momento, last month here on LAist and that CD review was supposed to coincide with her scheduled show at the El Rey but she broke her ankle in an accident and the show was rescheduled to this weekend. If her show is going to be anything like labelmate's CéU, then we're in for a treat.

Bossanovas and sambas along with other Brazilian traditionals will be on the menu with some curveballs thrown in there from the primarily US-based Gilberto. While it would be difficult to state that Gilberto has single-handedly popularized Brazilian music in North America, her 20+ year track-record means that she's been a primary proponent in this most current wave of appreciation.
