Oh, I fully admit to the quiche-i-ness of the whole enterprise. But when you call it Bacon Pie, your friends get really excited and want to eat it! Your boyfriend gobbles it down with nary a "wtf QUICHE?" comment! You get to tell everybody you know that you made BACON PIE!!! Semantics, semantics.

actually, Susan, what Carrie's done isn't a reinvention of quiche, unless you consider leaving out one of the two core ingredients of quiche (which is the egg-based custard filling; the other being the crust) an act of reinvention. she really did make a bacon pie!

Pie crusts need cold butter or Crisco as a binder, not oil! Also, you only really need flour, butter/Crisco, salt, and ice water. Don't overwork it and keep everything very cold and it will be nice and flakey next time! Other than that...YUM.
