Under The Influence Of Giants

Recently there has been an explosion of local bands that have burst onto the music scene, Silversun Pickups, Cold War Kids and Under the Influence Of Giants, to name a few. After touring extensively for the past year one of these bands returned home for the first time in about that long. Under The Influence Of Giants returned home to Los Angeles to the El Rey Thursday Night.

Their current single, “In The Clouds” has been in constant rotation on Indie 103.1 as was the song that got them their strong buzz, “Mama’s Room.” The Giants, as the cool kids call them (and frontman Aaron Bruno) brought their infectious electro-funk laden brand of rock to the El Rey Theater Thursday night, performing songs off their self-titled album. It was an eclectic performance of the bands heavy dance tracks with a few stops at the slow paced tunes, “Lay Me Down” being a highlight. The band as a whole sounded strong and played with constant energy. Bruno pranced and circled the stage as he sang out to the crowd. All of it reaching it’s climax with the show closer, the previously mentioned “In The Clouds,” which prompted Bruno to scream for the crowd to “dance their fucking asses off,” to which they promptly and diligently did.

Thanks Tony, it was a great show.

well, good content is a given on LAist.com. yes, the photos are stellar. but i also desire good reporting on a site about LA!!! and correct spelling dammit! we don't want people heading to some imaginary place called El Ray, do we?

oddly enough, the El Rey people accounted for people misspelling their theater name and if you type in El Ray Theater, their site STILL shows up first!

ok if its a given then we're all good
