Now we freaking completely understand how someone like George W. Bush gets into the Oval Office: American voters are stupid. Tonight on American Idol, calling voters kicked off the best singer in this popularity contest national singing competition.
Melinda Doolittle, the most experienced singer among the remaining three, got kicked off the show by the nearly 60 million callers.
We don't mean to sound bitter, but seriously...is it because she didn't have Jordin Sparks' high school calling to back her?
Is it because all the teeny-bopper girls are texting and calling for Blake Lewis? Kids, kids, kids...beat boxing is so early '90s.
Now thanks to all you voters, LAist has to sit through next week's finale between an OK singer and a good singer instead of the hands-down best singer on the show this season. We haven't felt this cheated since Sanjaya left. Hell, might as well bring him back, too, because this show has turned into a real unfunny joke. Whatever.
She'll do fine in the end...
Oh yeah, former AI contestant Elliott Yamin and Maroon 5 performed on the show. We liked Elliot's R&B performance better. And that's not saying much. But when did Maroon 5 start channeling the N*SYNC sound?

I so agree Melinda rocked and not sure why they would even keep Blake. I thought for sure it would be a battle between Melinda and Jordin but I guess it would be too hard. It just makes me mad to see her go cause she was awesome at what she does. Hurray for Melinda cause I believe she will find a contract and do something with her singing.
Melinda will do well in future. She has gained public exposure with her entry into idol. That's one positive thing that can be said, to take away from the elimination shocker this week.
I completely agree with you. Blake is so retarted. I think his singing during the national anthem was retarted. I'm so sad that Melinda got booted. Americans can be so retarted. I had a weird feeling they wouldn't vote for her because she wasn't the best looking.
I can't imagine some retarted Justin Timberlake look-alike might win American Idol.
I think beat boxing was mid to late 80's...

It's okay, she's not going anywhere. If she had taken the top prize, she would've been tied to that AI contract instead of having her choice. She can now go to the top any way she wants!

This show jumped the shark. The best singer gets booted. And the gimmicky beat-boxer stays. WTF????!?? That blows. This season sucks so hard.

Melinda will do fine. She said she's actually relieved to be off and free to sing without the pressure. Whatever one may think of American Idol it still provides a platform for aspiring singers to show their skills. I'm glad Melinda took that opportunity. I look forward to her success.
I think Melinda was voted off because this season is rigged for Jordin to win. They could not have a Jordin/Melinda finale cuz then when they let Jordin win, nobody would buy it. So, they had to get rid of Melinda before the finale. They should of just had a Melinda/Blake finale, but, you see, they couldn't do that cuz they HAVE to keep Jordin, so Melinda had to go. Poor Blake is caught in the middle of all this bullshit. GOOGLE = "Is Jordin Sparks American Idol's Next Controvery" and "A Fix Of Pro Life For Jordin Sparks". And a side not to "so upset", since 'retarded' seems to be your favorite word, you really should learn how to spell it.
I know I was cheated, too. I felt that it was very unfair for them to kick Melinda off of the show. This is a travesty and I'm no longer interested in watching. I'm not the only one that feels that way, either. Did they bring in Elliott so that Melinda would know that she'd still have a career after Idol?!?? Because we all knew that she would, jeezus that girl can sing and obviously voters aren't the ones that are buying the records...case in point: Taylor Hicks.

Produced by Grammy-nominated producer Mike Mangini (Joss Stone, Run DMC, The Jonas Brothers), Coming Back to You was recorded with a team of live musicians in Nashville and New York City.
The first single, “It’s Your Love” will be released to radio in October.
