Bakersfield Slip n Slide Party Spreads E. Coli

slip n slide - the cause of tragedy once again A carefree Springtime waterparty turned tragic in Bakersfield when two kids who didn't know they had the E.Coli virus bacterium infected three others and possibly seven more including one adult.

In a news conference on Monday, county health officials announced that two children were already sick when they attended the party and sickened other children, ABC23 reported.

Officials said they are still trying to determine how the original two children got sick.

Three children have been diagnosed with the illness while six children and one adult continue to be monitored, according to health department officials.

Officials maintain that the outbreak was contained to a circle of friends and acquaintances. - KERO 23

At least a dozen children in Bakersfield have gotten E. Coli in the last week. The E. Coli Blog has been following the outbreaks and say that the source probably traces back to a pizza joint in Bako.

Unfortunately officials are unwilling to disclose which pizza parlor is the suspected one, which is probably why the slip n' slide kids didn't know that they could possibly be infected.

FYI, E-coli is a bacterium, not a virus.
