Yes, that's Alex Trebek. No, he hasn't lost it. The Jeopardy! College Championships are going down at the University of Southern California and it looks like he's feeling the Spirit of Troy.
College students could always use some extra cash, so one smart-Alex is going to walk away with $100,000 to pay for books and Ramen a new plasma TV and Trump steaks.
A potpourri of California schools have been represented on the program this year, including USC, UCLA, Stanford, UC Berkeley, and UCSD. There was also a contestant from Harvard who grew up in San Diego. Trojan Sarah Nothnagel had homecourt advantage but was knocked out in the quarterfinals of the two-week competition. She still went home with $5,000 in prize money, which is more than Reggie Bush and Matt Leinart were allowed to make before they turned pro.
Cliff Galiher, the Bruin's representative, secured a spot in the final round against Stanford's Craig Boge and Notre Dame's Christine Kennedy. All three are guaranteed at least $25,000. No word if Cliff or Christine muttered "You'll rue the day, Trebek!" when Professor Alex was seen in the costume pictured above. You can watch them compete in the two-day finals this Thursday and Friday at 7:00pm on KABC 7.
