Before the Rubber Bullets

Thousands of people, legal and illegal, marched for immigrant rights yesterday through LA. Lindsay Watts reports for LAist from yesterday's immigration rally to see what people had to say about the all-day event.

Man, the nerve of these people. That canadian should be ashamed of himself; his country's still deporting Americans left and right. What happened to the good old days when people who made it to the US possessed sufficient intelligence to realize that assimilation and legitimization is part and parcel of finding success? Assimilation means taking off the freakin' alien mask. My grandparents were illegal immigrants, and they lived in fear of being deported. What'd they do? They worked hard, they learned to speak and write in perfect English, they lived modestly and held their breath because they knew they were lucky to be there and they were smart enough not to shit where they eat.
And that's why their kids became lawyers.
I don't think the people protesting should be deported because they broke the law to get into the US. I think they should be deported for being retarded.
