LAst Night's Action: Plenty of Offense

Baseball photographs just look cool. It's a scientific fact.Giants 6, Dodgers 4 - He's not looking like A-Rod, but Barry Bonds is starting to look like, well, Barry Bonds. A little trimmer than the past couple years and a lot faster on the basepath, he's also plunking four-baggers out of the park as if he was just 40 years old. His three run shot in the first put the Giants ahead early. Los Angeles tied the game, but fell short in their comeback attempt for the second time in two night. The teams face off again on Thursday night to wrap up the series.

Ducks 5, Canucks 1 - Despite falling behind 1-0, it was an auspicious start to the second round for Anaheim. Andy McDonald's two first period goals would have been enough to win it, but he added another one with less than a minute in the game. McDonald also tallied an assist, which helped him tie the franchise record for most points in a playoff game.

Angels 9, Devil Rays 1 - Anaheim lit up the scoreboard, with six runs coming on the heels of Tampa Bay fielding blunders. John Lackey had seven strikeouts against seven hits and one earned run in six innings.

Soccer Update - Chivas USA forward named MLS Player of the Week ... Galaxy finally win.

Elsewhere - LA Times sportswriter has had some balls ... Would that make him/her eligible for UCLA gymnastics? ... Speaking of UCLA, Darren Collison and Luc Richard Mbah a Moute announced that they're staying for another season ... First time in recorded history that beer and golf don't mix ... About a week after the Beantown Pizza incident, SF Chronicle columnist Jon Carroll reminds us why we love listening to baseball broadcasters ... Jake Peavy K'd 16 batters including nine in a row, Padres still lost.
