Some interesting tech-related news from around the web this week.

• Blackberry service had an outage this week in many parts of North America and for several tense hours, millions of users had to find something else to do with their thumbs. I feel their pain. But oddly, not in my thumbs.

• Despite spending a boatload of cash to advertise Windows Vista, Microsoft has only managed to sell 244 legit copies of the software in China. Of course, that doesn't count the many thousands of pirated copies going for about a buck on the streets. Sometimes it must suck to be Microsoft.

• Apparently, pirates like Google Video too. So much that they use it to power some of their sights. First YouTube and now this. Sometimes it must suck to be Google.

• According to a recent report from Gartner research, sales of Macintosh computers rose 30% last quarter even though Microsoft released Windows Vista during that time. Sometimes it must suck to be Apple. No, wait, probably not.

• More bad news for Google. A judge has refused to dismiss the Trademark lawsuit against Google and its Adwords service. So, now its off to court. Good thing Google has all those expensive lawyers.

• MySpace News has launched. Did you stop looking for the next Lonleygirl15 long enough to notice?

• Speaking of MySpace News, apparently it kinda sucks.

• Sling Media and Apple sitting in a tree -- S-T-R-E-A-M-I-N-G. Confused? Go here. Hint: it involves video and the iPhone.

• eBay announced its earnings for Q1 2007 this week. Take a guess how that went. Hint: the guys who run eBay are way richer than you.

• What were the top visited websites last month? The answers may surprise you.

• Make commercials or just like to watch them? Here's how things in the commercial world might change.

• Been waiting to see what happens before you get your High Def DVD on? Well, Wal-Mart looks set to enter the fray with a cheap High Def DVD player. The cost? Three hundred bucks.

• Finally, over at Om Malik's site, Liz Gannes talks about the force of the web in the wake of the Virginia Tech shootings.Check it out.
