LAst Night's Action: Sun Doesn't Set

If we called it a wild finish, would that be too obvious?Clippers 103, Suns 99 - The sun hasn't set on the Clipper's playoff hopes yet. Los Angeles surprised Phoenix, who played their regular starters despite a lock on the #2 seed in the West. The Clippers need to beat New Orleans (a/k/a Oklahoma City) on Wednesday and root for Portland to beat Golden State. That scenario would tie them with the Warriors at .500. The teams split their season series, but the Clippers would advance based on a better division record. If all goes well, they would face Dallas in the first round.

Wild 4, Ducks 1 - The sun hasn't set on Minnesota, either. Anaheim was unable to shut the door on the Wild, who put their top three scorers on the same line in a desperate move to avoid elimination. It worked. They produced 40 shots on goal, three of which found the back of the net after they fell behind 1-0 in the second period. The game finished with a flourish of penalties. Among the 13 served in the third were four for fighting, two game misconducts, and an attempt to injure.

Dodgers 6, Diamondbacks 4 - Juan Pierre had three runs on just two hits (he reached on a fielder's choice) and Luis Gonzalez added another run to go along with a pair of walks. Los Angeles has won 10 of 12, the last two in a short sweep of Arizona. The Dodgers are a game and a half ahead of the Diamondbacks. Off the field, Jason Schmidt was put on the 15 day DL.

Athletics 4, Angels 1 - Jered Weaver's 2007 didn't start quite as well as his 2006. A three run homer by Bobby Crosby gave him the loss, which was the Angel's fifth in a row. The offense has only produced six runs in that span.
