Dodgers 9, Padres 3 - If there was ever a day the Dodgers were supposed to win, it was Sunday. The Boys in Blue delivered on Jackie Robinson Day, honoring one of our nation's heroes with five stolen bases, thirteen hits, and nine runs. On the 60th anniversary of Robinson breaking the color barrier, the entire Dodgers team wore #42. In fact, over 200 players and managers throughout the country donned Jackie's old number. The idea started with Ken Griffey, Jr. (pictured in red at his game in Chicago), who asked the league if he could wear 42 on the anniversary. It is the only number that has ever been retired throughout an entire sport.
Lakers 109, Sonics 98 - Perhaps 24 was honoring 42 when he poured in another 50 point performance on Sunday. It was the tenth time Kobe has hit that mark this season, which is third most behind Wilt Chamberlain (45 in 61-62) and Wilt Chamberlain (30 in 62-63). The Lakers are now assured a spot in the playoffs, though this was just their third win in the past 11 games.
Ducks 2, Wild 1 - It wasn't a very wild one in Minnesota, where Anaheim notched their third series victory. They led most of the way and the Wild didn't score until the last minute. All seven games between the two teams this year have been won by just one goal.
Kings 105, Clippers 100 - Falling to the worst team in the Pacific, the Clippers are now two games out of the final playoff seed in the West. With Phoenix and New Orleans left to play, things are looking all too familiar for LA's "other" team.
Elsewhere - Lil' Romeo, who isn't so lil' anymore, will be playing hoops for USC ... Garret Anderson didn't wear 42 on Sunday, not did any of the Angels. They were rained out ... Is Tim Duncan in a fight with a referee?

Wayne Gretzky's number, 99, is retired by all NHL teams.
Good catch, BK. I forgot about the great one.
