TV Junkie: New 'Office' and '30 Rock'; 'Notes From The Underbelly' Debuts; Ahnold on Rose

A Word or 157:
It's all about the Prime Time tonight. The Office and 30 Rock have a real chance at getting some serious viewership since both Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy are simply rehash episodes (even though they are billed as 'New'). Tina Fey has been hitting everything from Good Morning America to Conan (and Baldwin made an appearance on Letterman last night) in an attempt to push 30 Rock more - it's got great critical acclaim but viewership is low, primarily because of the young doctors in love garbage on ABC.
LCD Soundsystem was fantastic on Letterman last night, bringing in the CBS orchestra for some serious horn blasts on a sped up version of 'North American Scum.' Also of note, today is David Letterman's 60th birthday. Go show him your tits again Drew, happy birthday David.
Also, watch for Kurt Vonnegut tributes tonight. I bet the Daily Show will play some clips from his appearance there last year.
Tonight - Thursday - April 12, 2007
Survivor: Fiji (CBS, 8:00 p.m.) Remaining castaways merge into one tribe - oh, the humanity
Ugly Betty (ABC, 8:00 p.m.) Season rehash episode - WTF? The writers took a break?
Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? (Fox, 8:00 p.m.) No, but I'm bigger than one and that's what matters
CSI/Shark (CBS, 9-11:00 p.m.) Lab tech covert operation vs. predatory pornographer murderer
Grey's Anatomy (ABC, 9:00 p.m.) Without the on set homo-bashing drama this show is losing steam as exemplified by a rehash episode
My Name is Earl/The Office/30 Rock/Scrubs (NBC, 8-10:00 p.m.) Comedy rock block - the middle hour is the best Thursday night TV IMHO
ER (NBC, 10:00 p.m.) This show is still on?
Notes From the Underbelly (ABC, 10:00 p.m.) Series premiere. Much anticipated debut. This has a good cast but I'm skeptical that the premise will last more than a few episodes - anyone remember that dumbass Wedding Bells show or whatever it was called? There was another idiotic wedding show that died as well, thank god - I'm not so sure this will make the cut either.
Charlie Rose (PBS, 11:30 p.m.) Der Governator
The Tonight Show With Jay Leno (NBC, 11:35 p.m.) Seinfeldian Julia Louis-Dreyfus; Rep. Nancy Pelosi(!); Reliant K performs
The Late Show With David Letterman (CBS, 11:35 p.m.) Dave face Bruce Willis; magician Jason Randal - it's Dave's 60th today!!
Jimmy Kimmel LIVE (ABC, 12:00 a.m.) Goran Visnjic; Andy Milonakis; The Academy Is... performs
The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson (CBS, 12:30 a.m.) David Duchovny (why don't you love me); Nia Long; k-os performs
Late Night With Conan O'Brien (NBC, 12:30 a.m.) SNL-alum Molly Shannon; Tiki Barber; of Montreal performs(!)
Last Call With Carson Daly (NBC, 1:30 a.m.) Quentin Tarantino continues the Grindhouse grind; Rock Kills Kid performs

i have seen all ep's for notes from the underbelly (aka ready or not) and, barring some last minute major changes at ABC, i can officially say it is garbage. yes i love rachel harris, but she alone can't save this heep o' crap.

Yeah, I despair for these actors that get caught in very shortsighted "theme" comedies.

Sadly, NBC is canceling "Andy Barker, P.I." That and "30 Rock" would have made for an excellent 1-2 punch.

Poor Andy Barker - I think his previous series was much better than this one and even though this one was better than sitcoms that aren't 'The Office' and '30 Rock' it still didn't have much momentum or push beyond 'Late Night With Conan O'Brien'

His previous series was "Quintuplets." =) But you're right, "Andy Richter Saves the Universe" was excellent. I still miss it to this day.

thanks Raul, yes! "....Universe" was excellent - it's so frustrating to see what "makes it" on TV and what doesn't
