Live from the Getty

Over the years, we've visited the Getty about a billion times. Every out-of-tonwer (that's a Chicago misspelling), friend, fam or foe, wants to come here.

And don't get us wrong, it's a great place, we love it much (plus the free WiFi we're on now). The West Pavillion is our current favorite. It has one the most famous paintings in LA -- Van Gogh's Irises -- and a mixed bag of current exhibitions: the John Humble Urban LA and LA River photography, LA-based artist, Tim Hawkinson's Zoopsia and From Caspar David Friedrich to Gerhard Richter: German Paintings from Dresden. Other favs include staying outside with the Garden and Architecture tours.

Honestly, the Getty does not have to be a full day affair. Don't wear yourself out this local treasure. After all, admission is free.

Parking is $8 these days, but that is where the 761 Metro Rapid comes into play -- it drops you off at the front gate.
