Comedy & Tragedy in Iraq (Part 5,763)

Never has the line between comedy and tragedy been thinner than in this clip of Sen. John McCain asserting that in Baghdad there are areas outside of the Green Zone where Westerners can walk freely thanks to the U.S. success in Iraq. Sure, I guess if you're wearing a Kevlar vest, surrounded by more than 100 heavily armed soldiers and guarded by Blackhawk helicopters and Apache gunships, you would feel pretty safe.

Fortunately, McCain's statement was followed by an appearance by CNN's Iraq correspondant, Michael Ware, who thoroughly debunks McCain's claims with the following statements: "beyond ludicrous," "no way on earth" and "I'd love Sen. McCain to tell me where that neighborhood is, and he and I can go for a stroll."

Just one more laughable piece of political detritus for the hubris files? Or a truly tragic look into the mouth of insanity? You be the judge.
