Metro Announces Late Night Red Line Service

Los Angeles Red Line SubwayIn an unexpected change of heart and funding at Metro, this past week has shown us public transportation can get an edge in LA. After announcing the LAX Green Line extension and the promised completion of the Subway to the Sea by 2011, Metro will announce next Friday night the Red Line Owl Service. With only 15-minute headways throughout the night, drunkards can stumble to their car in North Hollywood rather than at the Hollywood/Highland complex.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will inaugurate the first 12:45 a.m. subway ride after having a drink at The Burgundy Room, followed by a garlic dog and fries at Skooby's.

The following Monday, he will introduce Los Angeles as the first city to embrace a transit skyway dedicated to people who commute by jet pack. Later in the day, he be at the groundbreaking for the 405/101 to LAX Skybucket transit line.

best thing I've heard since free citywide wi-fi.

we could really used a late night red line here....curse you April Fools !!!!

I'm with you, Eric... I'm about to start jumping up and cheering... and then I look at the date ;p.

April Fool!

Actually, most of this stuff will happen, eventually. Just use a calendar to check off the waiting period in years instead of months.

Except for the Jetpacks and sky trams.

I kind of doubt the skybucket thing, but funnily enough some guy did, within the past couple years, seriously propose constructing such a thing in Syracuse, New York, to take people between Syracuse University (which is up on a hill) and the center city (which isn't).

just mean. mean mean mean. especially for those of us catching up on april 2 who werent even THINKING of april fools as an option!
