LAst Night's Action: Yao-zah, Kobe Hits 50 Again

Kobe's 53 were big. Yao was bigger.Rockets 107, Lakers 104, OT - When you have Kobe on your team, you want him to take the critical shots. You want him to take a lot of shots, period. Kobe took so many (44) that he had 53 points and made a clutch off-balance three pointer to send the game to overtime. Unfortunately, he "only" made 19 of his shots and missed a critical three pointer at the end of overtime.

Clippers 105, Kings 101 - The Clippers are on a roll again. They've won five of their last six, and won for the first time in Sacramento in nearly 10 years. They're now a game and a half ahead of Golden State for the eighth seed and only half a game out of seventh.

Dodgers 13, Angels 4 - The brush wasn't the only thing on fire in Los Angeles on Friday. The Boys in Blue put up a football score in the Freeway Series to even the matchup between the local boys of summer. Former Giant ace Jason Schmidt earned the win, though there was some question about his velocity. The stadium radar indicated that he couldn't break 90, but Schmidt laughed about it and claimed the gun in Dodger Stadium hasn't clocked him above 90 in the past four years. In other Dodger news, we hope you're getting a tax refund.

Elsewhere - No need to look elsewhere, there's a lot of action in LA these days. Are you reading your LAist?
