The Tech News Roundup - AppleTV, Tech Irony & Finding a Name

• Apple, Inc. takes another step into your living room with the AppleTV -- which started shipping this week to eager early-adopters (like me). Should you get one? I'll let you know very soon after I beat up on it for a few days.
• Speaking of AppleTV, over at 'Make', one of my favorite "do-it-yourself" sites, they show you how to violate the warranty on your shiny new AppleTV in four easy steps.
• Microsoft admits they could support Blu-Ray in the XBox 360. That is, if they felt like it.
• In more Microsoft news, the company has closed its video sharing site, Soapbox, to new users for the next two months in order to implement stricter controls on copyrighted material. Did you know Microsoft had a video sharing site? More to the point, do you care? If so, check out the article for more details.
• HD radio gets the FCC's blessing this week. Why do you care? Take a look.
• Infoworld, one of the "big time" tech magazines that's been around for quite some time is apparently going to fold very soon. Hmm, a print magazine about technology folding in large part because of a technology like the internet. I guess irony is pretty ironic sometimes, isn't it? (Bonus points if you can name that movie)
• A Belgian company suing search (and almost everything else) giant Google has lost their lawsuit. Why were they suing? Check it out here.
• In other ironic news, Apple computer may be delaying its upcoming update to Mac OSX Leopard in order to ensure it has compatibility with Windows Vista. Confused, go to the article for more.
• What's in a name? Apparently quite a bit -- especially if you're NBC and News Corp. and you've announced a new online content distribution venture and haven't picked a name for it yet. Really guys, people are starting to talk -- and not In the way you hoped.
• In more Microsoft news. Apparently, some Microsoft folks decided to crash the European launch of the Sony PS3 this week. Despite the gate crashers, the event was met with a great amount of excitement. Of course, it could have been the free TVs.
• Lastly, learn how to 'Green' your electronics. Helping the environment a little while also using your gadgets is a good thing. Trust me, I drive a Prius.
