Matthew Mullenweg, the co-founder of WordPress is one of those young people that your parents like to point to when they ask you what the hell you're doing with your life.
Last week PC World named him the 16th most-important person on the web (two slots above the of the founders of Yahoo!), which isn't bad for a 23-year-old who gives it away for free.
But what we find most impressive is if you ever want to check in on his site all you have to do is type "Matt" into Google and he comes up at the #1 return, above Mr. Drudge.
Last night we got to spend a few minutes with him at the Ginger Man in Austin just as last call was being announced.

He definitely does not come up at the top of a google search for "Matt". It would be awesome if he did, but he doesn't.
check your settings, you probably have it on something funky.
I always forget to "sign out" of Google before doing a search. If you're signed into Gmail or Reader or whatever, you'll see that you're still signed in in the upper right corner when you Search. click sign out and the results may change since the GOOG is smart-searching/personalizing your searches based on your search history
Using wordpress.com is a dream! The layout is less geeky than blogger, they have incredible functions allowing you to track visitation, and it's always fun rooting for the underdog. I love and it and wouldn't turn back!
Thanks Matt & the Laist, Great Story!
Much love from Boston
+p.s. if you are frequent the Ginger Man again-
if you like the hops- go for the Stone IPA
if you like the wheats- go for the Hacker-Pschorr Hefe
If you like the browns- Brew House Brown, it's local
and if it's hot- go for the Firemans No. 4
(can you tell I used to work there?)
Good stuff.
@Frank: He most definitely DOES come up #1. Maybe there's some geotargetting going on somewhere if you're in another part of the world, though. I'm not eliminating that possibility.
Word Press
It's nice to be on top
or near it!
Search "the prime spot"
then "theprimespot"
Searches come up differently
depending if the word is spaced or not ...
