Melrose Larry Green

If you don't know Melrose Larry Green, you might recognize him from Howard Stern. Or maybe you know of his book, Why The Clintons Belong in Jail. Maybe not. Maybe you knew him in Brooklyn in the 50s as Laurence Victor Greenblatt. Whatever the case is, Green is a local celebrity of some sort.

Last Saturday at the Keep America Beautiful launch, where Hillary Clinton spoke, Green popped into our little video as we were taping some pre-ceremony music with lyrics about Los Angeles. If you cannot understand him while he is standing behind us, here is the transcript and details:

Talking to a District 12 representative (LA City Councilman Greig Smith is known a the most conservative one of the group):

Don't tell mama, but I'm voting for Obama
Don't tell mama, but I'm voting for Obama
You know what, I never thought I would be a Republican. When I was your age, I was a Democrat. I never thought I would be a Republican. I'm a Republican.

Takes focus in our camera: I never thoutht I'd be a Republican, but I am.

Turns to a District 2 representative: I like Wendy Greuel, I wish she was a Republican.

Update: Green also was in one of Jacob Soboroff's LAObserved Videos.

Larry Green once had me put in jail in the late 90's for walking up behind him and stealing the sign he was waiving on Melrose and Highland that read "Howard is the Messiah". He told the police that I punched him and robbed him, and when the police caught up to me as I was running home with the sign, they brutalized me with a kick to the back and a knee on my neck.

Larry made me sit in jail for 5 days because I did not agree to call Howard and publicly apologize. Even though I was facing a Felony assault charge, the last thing on my mind was giving Larry what he so desperately wanted: more attention.

Not that I found the sign particularly offensive, truth be told I didn't even see what was written on the sign when I decided it would be funny to snatch it. The thought of going home to show my brother (who was a huge Stern fan at the time, and a bigger Melrose Larry hater) what I did was enough to convince me to get that sign.

For Larry to lie to the Police just shows what a pathetic little man he is, and when he was stumping for votes to get on the City council one year, I was right there beside him at the Hollywood fruit and vegetable market telling people what a moron he is and not to vote for him. He was visibly infuriated which was a little peice of satisfaction for me.

Larry is a first class loser who wasn't hugged as a child. If you are reading this Larry, go f**k yourself!
