Timberwolves 117, Lakers 107, 2OT - Kobe had 37 points in regulation but could only manage 3 in two overtime periods as Los Angeles fell to Minnesota. The star of the game was Timberwolves' center Mark Blount. Unlike most 7 foot tall dudes, he was able to rain down three pointers when it counted. With a trio of trays in the final three minutes, he helped the T-Wolves even up and send the game into overtime. In the second extra period, the Lakers were held to just two points.
Blackhawks 3, Kings 0 - Gutted by trades and staggering towards the end of the season, Los Angeles was unable to find the back of the net against a goalie who had allowed at least one goal in each of his previous 98 games. Nikolai Khabibulin had to stop 26 shots, but only three in the second period. Firmly planted in the Western Conference cellar, the Kings can only hope for a little excitement to finish the year. Like a new Zamboni. Or a good laugh.
College Hoops - March Madness is fast approaching, and Arron Afflalo is already an All American. He would have been a great addition to Conan's Double Letter Week ... . The Pac 10 Tournament is this weekend at Staples Center ... The women's NCAAs will have some games at the Galen Center.
Elsewhere - Soccer picks up a trick from another low scoring sport ... Vladimir Guerrero isn't injured, he's just built that way ... Stanford and Cal may have a football cause to unite over.
