Kelly Clarkson Sings The National Anthem

Yesterday morning we played a video of Clay Aiken singing the National Anthem and today we will play a video of Ms. Kelly Clarkson singing the same tune.

This video was shot last year at a Boston Celtics game and what's interesting is those people were louder for the anthem than the entire Staples Center was last week when we saw the Lakers lose to the Jailblazers.

What's up with that?

Another Idol singing the anthem tomorrow...

I really don't like when she purposefully misses a note and then slides onto it. What's up with that?

Clay and now Kelly have done a great job . Who's next ?

Don't understand the point you are trying to make. Are you mocking Kelly or the fans? She did a great rendition.

I missed seeing Clay Aiken sing the National Anthem. Could you please put it up again? i could care lesswht Kelly Clarkson sings.

She trills even more than Aiken does. Does nobody sing the song straight any more? They're both good, but too fancy.

afan - click on the words Clay Aiken under Kelly's video to see Clay's National Anthem.

Yikes. That was bad.

go kelly she's the best

She did ok.
I still like Clay's the best.
I don't see how she did as well as she did
with the noise going on. That was rude.

kelly clarkson freaking rocks. clay aiken, not so sure. ick

Kelly's version is good, Taylor's is OK, but Clay's is stellar. Not sure what version of Clay's you've got up there because I can't get his video to play - what's up with that? If it's from the Durham Bulls during AI2, he could have cut back on the embellishments, but it was still better than 95% of other lesser vocalists who've tried it. If it's from Yankee Stadium during the 2003 World Series, it's just about the most clean & clear version that anyone has ever sung - he even paused with reverence while the Air Force flew over too soon. If it's from the Capital 4th in 2004, it's probably the best version I've ever heard from Idol or not. Kelly is great recorded, but live most of the time she's not all that.

Rick - Clay's version is from the Hurricanes hockey game.

Uh ... Clay's version obviously sounds clear compared to Kelly's because it's straight from TV and not from some random audience member's camera. They both do a stellar job and hit the big notes.
