i just booked a room in austin pretty near 6th st. today. it is hard to find hotels right downtown, but not impossible. there are vacancies if you are little further out

You can buy individual tickets to show cases. AND there are free parties, w/ all the festival bands playing, every day from Noon to 6pm.

Um, except all of the downtown hotels have been booked since last year and access to things without a badge/wristband/invite/industry connections isn't easy for the average music fan. I'd hardly recommend this as a substitute for a casual festival goer.
