Google Maps One Step Closer To Perfection: Traffic

LAist is recently single and we find ourself on the weirdest "dates". The other day we were picked up by a woman who we know is interested in us. She was all, "hey let's go see Obama speak and later we can go get a bite."

We were all, hmmm, that sounds like a lunch date.

So the young lady picks us up and asks if we know the way to where the Senator is speaking and we were all, "yeah it's right off the 10," and she was like, "yeah I Mapquested it and printed it out, I just wanted to know if you knew of a short cut?"

And we thought to ourselves "Mapquest?" What stone-age world does this woman hail from? Is there even running water in her cave? Does the poor lass own a microwave?

Google Maps has done everything it can to improve itself since it launched a little over two years ago and is by far the best maps solution, if not the best Google product to date. Indeed, it's difficult to think of any aspect of Google that has continually added newer benefits to its users than Maps. Imagine if Google put that sort of energy into Blogger.

Today Google launched Traffic Info to the maps of 30 U.S. cities like Boston and NY, and even our own. You no longer need to go through some mash-up or visit a totally separate site. Now when you are trying to see where you're going, the traffic info will appear to let you know what to expect.

Genius. Thank you, Google. Thank you.
