The South by Southwest film, interactive, and music fest is just a few weeks around the corner and LAist couldn't be more excited to attend and participate. Yours truly will be speaking on a panel, LAist will be throwing a concert at a great club, and we will cover the hell out of the fest in a way you've never seen done ever.

Unless your dreams are really pretty.

SXSW music has over 1,000 bands signed up and one of the cool things they do is provide a way to sample most of the artists through technology called MP3. We downloaded all 3+ gigs of music and we've been doing the cursory surveillance from a distance but recently we've been digging deeper when something catches our eye - and ear.

The opening lyric of "Westboro Baptist Church" by I Can Lick Any Sonofabitch in the House got our attention by using consonation and repetition while demanding us to "Fuck Fred Phelps and the Westboro Baptist Church."

Sounding like something off an old Camper Van Beethoven album, we are then told to make love to several other men of the cloth, including Anaheim's own Benny Hinn (holla!). But hearing what appears to be a southern gentlemen requesting that have relations with our current president of the United States while a harmonica wails, is a challenge to the notion that there are so-called Red States any longer who will blindly follow whatever we think they're going to follow.

Yes this song is a few years old (from 2004's Menace), but it's on the current collection from SXSW and the band is going to play at this year's festival, so if you wanna sing along, the lyrics are right after the jump.
