Flushed Away... Cartoon Justice?

This is your last warning. Don't go posting those Oscar screeners on the Internet. Not now, and not ever!

After all, you could end up like Salvador Nunez Jr., a 27-year-old Norwalk resident who was charged today with copyright infringement.

Nunez allegedly got DVD copies of Flushed Away from his sister, who has the privilege of reviewing cartoons for the Academy. The MPAA knows this because they imprint digital watermarks on all screeners in order to track pirated copies. The feds say he admitted to putting Happy Feet on the InterTubes last month as well.

Posting cartoons on the Internet is a naughty deed punishable by up to 3 years in prison. No word on whether his sister will be getting any flack for burning DVD copies of the so-called "screeners." If we're gonna have justice here, why give the Oscar-deciders a break?

This reminder comes almost a year to the day after the arrest of a 25-year-old Corona resident who uploaded Walk the Line. He later pleaded guilty.
