Jose, Bibby a great trade. Pippin a definate plus. Kidd not so much if he is not going to play the triangle. Maybe the Lakers should save the money and trade for someone younger.

Speaking as a NJ fan, moreover a J.Kidd fan, I think that bringing him in would be a mistake at this point in the season. Regardless of the fact that he has major issues with authority (Dallas and NJ), he does know how to move the ball around and is playing some of his best ball in recent years. But still a mistake just because he would be a very heavy trade and it would cost us a lot of bench talent in my opinion, which was the key to our success early this season.

And you guys can shoot me for saying this but I think Phil should go ahead and sign Pippin for 10-days....see how it fits. I honestly think it could work, if only for half a season. He may be too slow to drive the ball in as often as we need it, but he is a damn smart player, knows the triangle...and based on history, he could compliment Kobe perfectly. It might fuckin' work.

Rod Thorn better trade away Kidd before he gets another injury. I'd rather have Kwame brown then Bynum. At least Kwame can play defense, but only if teh Lakers either throw in Jordan Fatmar or 1st round draft picks. Smush parker would be nice too.

This team needs to get young NOW before it's too late. We all love Jason, but it's time to start over. We need cap relief and this is our only chance rod!

Do it, we don't need Bynum.

There's no question this is a good move for the Lakers. The better question is why would the Nets do it? Do they really get better now, or in the future with this move?

the Lakers' problem is the opposite of the Nets-- they need to be good NOW. It would be a real shame if the years when Kobe is in his prime (last year, this year, and the next two years after that), the Lakers continue to have under-achievers or perennial has-beens or never-will-bes around him.

Furthermore, they're the most popular basketball team in the world, with the best fans, best history, etc. We need results now, and need another star to balance out the squad. Regardless of the Triangle, Kidd is perhaps one of the few players who will be available now/next year who fits the bill.
