"nothing in here is true" several people would either approach me or email me and ask if it was true that LA really had a subway.

I think it's time to let people in on the joke.

The problem is the English language works differently for its spoken and written forms.

When you hear someone ask whether L.A. has a subway, it's not that they really don't know. The written form of the question loses the stress on "subway" heard in the spoken form. The stress is meant to convey both shock and revulsion.

L.A. has a subway is not meant as curiosity, but indignation. It's like, "Mississippi is building a public library?" The joke is that Angelenos are both stupid and porcine for attempting to accommodate anything but cars, just as the Mississippi question is inevitably followed up by a comment on burning books.

This is way cool. Although interestingly it doesn't have the orange line stops.

That's sweet. I've been wanting this sort of integration for a long time. Now I know I can take the subway to my teacher training in 2 weeks :D
