NoHo as Center of the Valley
When we biked the Orange Line a few weeks ago, we noticed what could be the first transit oriented development along the "Valley's newest shortcut" at the Canoga Park station, a recent addition to the line. Even for this ex-suburban kid, living in the West Valley is starting to not look that bad if it had to come to that for some reason.
But what is looking even better is where the Orange and Red Lines intersect in the NoHo Arts District. As the Orange Line brings a more urban life around it and NoHo continues its growth, this transit center is prime for a spot in a near carless Los Angeles life. Even a bike path heads east for four miles within Burbank's borders.
In the pipe dream version of this story, more NoHo-esque clusters will appear. Respectively in Van Nuys where the Orange Line will intersect with some dream line that runs down the 405 from the Valley to LAX meeting the Purple and Expo Lines along the way. Additionally, the Orange Line would extend to Pasadena completing the triangle where the colors of the two other sides are Red and Gold.
Until that day, if ever, we will be putting bets down on NoHo. And while we bet, here is what others are saying:
