After a report on the LA River plan on today's 2 o'clock KCAL9 news, meteorologist Josh Rubenstein said in transition to the weather report, "What's actually nice is that bike path that goes all the way from the valley down to Long Beach."
Uhhhh, Mr. Rubenstein, errrr, it doesn't exist yet. I bet you excited a bunch of people over this non-existent path.
Therefore, we deem you to be punished financially by making you pay for this path to be finished. Thanks!

Are you possibly ignoring the context? If, for example, Josh was transitioning from a story about the proposed development and bike path, it would be perfectly sensible for Josh to mention "that bike path that goes all the way from ...." without having to use the qualifying word "planned".
He did follow that sentence with talking about a race that takes place on it every year, which would un-qualify that "planned" word.
Actually, my lawyer just rode it last weekend -- from Pasadena to Long Beach -- so it must be somewhat finished.
Not to be a stickler here, but Pasadena is the San Gabriel Valley, not the San Fernando Valley. I know, you knew that.
As far as I can tell from my Metro Bike Map, The bike paths that go along the Rio Hondo and the San Gabriel River will take you to the ocean. Both of those paths you can find to the east of Pasadena.
The Rio Hondo will hook up with the LA River Trail south of Bell Gardens, north of the 105. The trail along the San Gabriel River ends in the Seal Beach area after intersecting with the trail along Coyote Creek.
Lots of long distance bike paths (Class I) in LA County, just not in the city limits of Los Angeles.
Stickle away Zach. Not only is Paul confusing the SGV with the SFV, but I'm curious as to what so-called dedicated "bike path" his consigliere pedaled from Pasadena to Long Beach because there ain't none.
Certainly one can cover the distance between Duarte and Seal Beach on the San Gabriel River Bikeway, or from Yorba Linda down to Newport Beach on the Santa Ana River Bikeway, both of which are well worth the efforts, but as you pointed out those are nowhere near Pasadena.
And did well-meaning but misinformed Josh R. really mean a bike "race?" I'm guessing he's flapping on about the Bike Coalition's annual river ride from Griffith Park to Long Beach and back, but like the Acura L.A. Bike Tour it is in no way promoted as any type of competitive endeavor. And it must travel off river through downtown and Vernon to rejoin the river bikeway there.
Actually you all...I did in fact say race...which is incorrect. It is the LA River Bike Ride. It in fact does go from the L.A. Zoo to Long Beach...along the L.A. River. It snakes through a couple of neighborhoods but about 90% goes along the river. And, I will not be able to pay for the finished version...as I am only the weekend weather guy.
