Country music fans believe that Clear Channel should use their corporate conglomeration power to censor artists. Their behavior says more about their compliant obedience to their icons and their understanding of how freedom can be manipulated, than anything about the dixie chicks.

Why can't we just separate politics from entertainment. Do I disagree with them, Yes. Does that change the fact they are 3 of the hottest and most talented female musicians out there? Hell No. Some of my favorite actors/actresses and singers are people I adamantly disagree with politically. I don't care if Natalie or Dave Matthews or Tim Robbins hate Bush and are bleeding heart liberals. Doesn't matter they are still talented and very good entertainers

You are right, the have a freedom of speech. We have the same rights also, we have the right to speak with our pocketbook too. By not showing up to their concerts and not buying their CD's has been telling them how most of us feel about what they have said. I think they would have been better off singing the French National Anthem, it sure didn't change my opinion of them, and nothing will. I broke the CD's I had of them and will never listen to them again.

Does it really matter? What matters to me is the dedication to keep alive our freedom of speech, our freedom as a people and freedom as a nation! The bashing those Chicks have taken, over their freedom to say what they believed to be true, only to rise from the ashes, closer and more determined than ever says alot. It proved they cared more about freedom of speech than losing fans...wow what a concept! They didn't jump a band wagon riding on Americas coat tail to glory, they said what they thought and 'paid the price', kinda reminds me of our forefathers! As for me they will never have a more dedicated fan and avid admirer, we could use some men like that in our country again!

On their 2003 tour they actaully did sell out the venue using the "in the round" stage. But this time they knew they couldnt fill the venue so they opeted for the smaller seating arrangement with 7K fewer seats available. As their fan base continues to shrink, maybe they can just keep pushing the stage further and further towards one end of the arena, so they can continue to claim its a sell out?

what part of I was there and 1/3 of the seats were not curtained off do you not understand? I have sat "behind the stage" for the Stones many years ago, and for U2/No Doubt several years ago, and because the Dixie Chicks chose not to stiff its fans by making them pay to see the back of their heads should be commended. As I said before, the seats that were curtained off were behind the stage, including where the restaurant is. Staples can claim to be able to seat 20k fans for concerts, which is probably true if the show is in-the-round, but anyone who actually was at Staples in October when the Dixie Chicks played can tell you that it was definitely a sell-out and no cheating was necessary.

Per Stapleseatingevents.com The Staples Center Capacity is approximately 19,000 for basketball, 16,000 for ice hockey, and over 20,000 for concerts. Staples Center's state-of-the-art amenities will have you keep coming back for more! A little over 13K attended the concert. I guess everyone can sell out Staples Center if they curtain off enough seats! LOL

Beansox, i was at the Dixie Chicks show at Staples. 1/3 of the seats were definitely *not* curtained off. the only parts that were, were the seats behind the stage and the restaurant. do you always talk out of your ass anonymously on web sites?

I will not comment on you belittling the handicapped for the sake of making disparaging remarks towards me, as I fell it speaks for itself. As for Staples Center, it seats over 20K for concert venues. You dont have to take my word for it, you can easily look up this information in the Staples site, as I did. The chicks had 1/3 of it curtained off, selling around 13K. Not really a sell out considering other acts sell over 20K, now is it? The concert was heavily promoted (as was their album and single) by Star 98.7 and a free car was even given away. If I am not mistaken, some of that stations introduced them onto the stage. As for the rest of the country (US) even the chicks themselves in interviews said they are performing to half filled venues. This is yet another item that you can research online and find out is correct. The numbers do not lie and I was merely pointing out that assertion that their "nationwide" tour was successful. Canceling 14 concerts and performing to half filled venue's, is not considered succesful.

i dont understand the use of your quotes for their national tour. are you trying to suggest that the Dixie Chicks didn't tour around the US (and Canada)? also your analogy is as retarded as your name. sure you might say the color of the sky is blue, however in reality the sky has no color. likewise you might not like the Dixie Chicks because they beat you to the punch of saying that they're ashamed of President Bush, but a) he is someone who we should all be ashamed of and b) when you sell out arenas around the country including selling out Staples Center (an arena in a town without a country radio station), it's a successful tour.

Having to cancel 14 stops on a "national" tour is considered a success" in your world? How about losing 70+% of your fans because everytime a mic was passed to you, you made snarky comments about them? Is that also succesful? What color does the sky happen to be in your world?
