Proenza Schouler Doesn't Quite Make it to Target
Today was the big unveiling of Proenza Schouler's "resort wear" collection for Target. It was exalted. It was hyped. It was drooled over. (I plead guilty to all of the above). But an early morning trip to the Target at the corner of La Cienega and Rodeo yielded nothing. Not as in "nothing good left cuz the racks were already picked clean" but as in "where the fuck are these clothes?" That's right. Absolutely nothing from the Proenza Schouler line was out on the floor. But you couldn't miss the large sign that helpfully announced, "Who's Next? The next Target Go International Designer Arrives on Feb. 1st." Uh, thanks. Actually, we know who the next designer is, and today is Feb. 1st, so make with the threads.
The scene was the same at Targets across the Southland. A trip to the WeHo Target -- the one at the corner of Santa Monica and LaBrea -- yielded the same sad discovery. No clothes whatsoever from Proenza and/or Schouler. But I did spot a couple of young, stylish, baffled-looking ladies walking around the women's clothing section in a daze. I'm guessing I wasn't the only one who left brokenhearted.
Waaaaaah! What's the deal? Ladies want their Proenza Schouler!
Our crafty Eagle Rock operative has learned that it's sackcloth and ashes Feb. 8., which is when Proenza Schouler's Target collection will finally be available.
