The "How Many Legislators Does it Take to Change a Lightbulb Act''
"A California lawmaker wants to make his state the first to ban incandescent lightbulbs as part of California's groundbreaking initiatives to reduce energy use and greenhouse gases blamed for global warming... 'Incandescent lightbulbs were first developed almost 125 years ago, and since that time they have undergone no major modifications,'' California Assemblyman Lloyd Levine [D-Van Nuys] said on Tuesday."(New York Times)

Let the Flushed Away Jokes Begin
Glendale based DreamWorks Animation and Aardman Animations Ltd., whose collaborations made Chicken Run, Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit and Flushed Away have split up. (SFVBJ)

Urban Permaculture LA Style
"If you take a deeper look into this complex urban fabric [of LA], you will discover some green gems that are making big impacts here and opening the eyes of city dwellers around the globe."(World Changing LA)

Parking Enforcement vs. Cancer Patient
Park in a red zone and good chances you are going to get a ticket, period. But then for the parking enforcement officer to yell at a woman with an oxygen tank who you were just told has cancer and is feeling weak is pretty lame. "I'm five-two, and this big fella leans into my face and yells at me, 'Why are you crying? You shouldn't be crying. I'm not giving you the ticket. I'm giving the ticket to the car.' " (LA Times)

Hell, I'll take the $9,000
"Two Los Angeles City Council committees moved one step closer Tuesday to finalizing strict new rules governing evictions and condominium conversions, but it remains unclear how much property owners would pay relocating tenants."(Daily News)
