Mai Tai Quan Do

With none of LA's professional teams in action last night, it was no surprise that a big-name athlete threw a red carpet party. It was a surprise that the name was Quinton "Rampage" Jackson.
Most pro athletes save the party until after the main event, so LAist has a whole different kind of respect for some of the guys in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Rampage got down at Mood a week before he throws down at UFC 67: All or Nothing. It will be his first UFC fight since switching over from PRIDE. He lives in Newport Beach, but says he likes the club when he's in town. And what goes better with mixed drinks than mixed martial arts?
It wasn't much of a trip for Jason "Mayhem" Miller, who lives around the corner in Hollywood. So what does somebody who beats up people for a living do in his free time? The kind of guy who rocks a fur coat to go with his platinum grill and matching four-finger bling? You guessed it! He blogs. Turns out he enjoys midget tossing and is pretty funny when he's been hitting the Thera-Flu.
After cracking a few bad jokes about "sake to me" and "bloody mary," LAist wandered outside the club and saw one of our favorite LA personalities. Find out who after the jump ...

That's right, it's Dr. Geek!
You may remember LA's master wordologist (his word, not ours) from his classic Blu Blocker commercials, or have seen him outside of Hollywood clubs, USC football games, or just chillin' in Venice Beach.
We love LA.
We also love a good party, so shouts out to the people at Mood, Level Vodka, Resurrect, Lush, Crash and Jin, and Fresh Politix for throwing a good one. UFC fighters weren't the only celebrities ... Wesley Snipes and Blu Cantrell made appearances, too.
Could Wednesday be the new Friday?
It stands a fighting chance.
