Coachella Headliners? The Police Determined to Reunite This Summer

Apparently Sting is sufficiently pleased with the damage that he's done to Adult Contemporary music, serving up some whiteboy quasijazz, softball world music, and most recently semi-classical lute numbers.

After over 20 years of not being in Police any more, the only good thing he's ever done, Sting, it appears, is ready to get the band back together for their 30th anniversary.

Fox News reported yesterday:

The signs are strong, with enough clues available so that even Colonel Mustard could figure it out. Here’s one: Yesterday, former Policemen Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland were guests, with their families, at a Malibu birthday party for Sting’s better half, Trudie Styler. Their appearance caused quite a stir.

And on Thursday night at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, Sting dedicated a lute version of “Message in a Bottle” to the pair of former comrades...who happened to be seated in the auditorium.

Since Coachella loves '80s bands as headliners, one can only wonder how perfect the Police might be out there in the desert... like tea in the sahara with you.

I am the kind of idiot that would pay top dollar to see a reunited Police show - count me in!

i do whatever tomdog says...
(synchonicity tour in '83 was my first show ever, so i've got fingers crossed for a reunion show)

if this shapes up, it might finally be the year i pay top dollar to attend coachella. the police were my favorite band when i was in jr. high / high school, but i was in about the 4th grade when they split up, so i've never seen them play live together. i guess there was an impromtu reunion at the sumner-styler nuptuals several years ago, but sting neglected to invite me to the wedding. ::pout::

Sending out an S.O.S

I hope that this is more than a message in a bottle!

would be nice to see 'em do an actual actual tour and just place their old old stuff ....

before the long walk back to the dustbowl parking lot pressing on your keyfob every three feet...Walking On The Moon would be nice. it would be....appropriate.

A Police reunion would actually get me out to Coachella. That and maybe a live (not DJ) set by Squarepusher too?

ITS CALLED RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, THE CHILLI PEPS AND B-JORK!
